How much does a water feature cost?
Costs vary based on size, stonework, plants, fish, and lighting. A standard thousand-gallon pond typically costs between $5,000 and $10,000. Smaller features like spillway bowls and free-standing fountains generally start in the $1,000 to $3,000 range. We will walk you through options that fit your budget during your consultation with us.
Do water features require a lot of maintenance?
Much less than you’d imagine. Most water features only need a drain and pressure wash once or twice a year. Depending on the plants included in your design, even algae management may not be a regular concern.
What are the best water features for a small backyard?
Spillway bowls, water gardens, free-standing fountains, and lotus pockets all work well in tighter spaces. These options can give you the look and sound of water without requiring a large footprint.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in two to three days; however, more complex builds with custom stonework, extensive planting, or larger ponds may take longer. We will give you a clear timeline before any work begins.
Can I add fish to any water feature?
No. Fish need at least two to three feet of water depth to survive a New England winter. If you want to keep fish year-round, we can also incorporate a floating heater and aeration system into the design.

The service we received was outstanding--fast, professional, and effective. We needed oak tannin stains removed from our patio after a tree fell on our house. A crew was at our house within a day and was able to clean the pavers with less work than was originally quoted. The price was adjusted as well to reflect the fact that a simpler approach was sufficient to get the job done. From start to finish, every step of the process to replace our front steps was executed flawlessly by Bahler Brothers. Initially George helped guide us to the perfect design and materials. When the time came to begin the project we were informed when each step would take place- and they were always at our house when they said they’d be. Lloyd was careful to place mats in our driveway to protect it as he excavated the area. As soon as that portion was done Junior, Andrew, and Angel began work on the steps and walkway. I was so impressed with how detailed and meticulous they were. Each step, each paver was placed exactly where it should be. They made double and triple sure of it! When Byron and Ryan in the landscaping division came to put our plantings back they were careful to do it exactly as it was before - even adding new stone so the plantings were completely covered as before. Josh called to make sure we were happy - which we were! George also came one last time to make sure the job was done to our satisfaction. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend Bahler Brothers to anyone who needed a project done and done right! We are now waiting for the railing vendor to install the railing. Once that is done our step project will be complete.
